Coming in with the New Year was also a very cold front. On Sunday, January 5th it was recorded that we received 11 inches of snow. This is only the eighth time since 1888 that we received more than 10 inches of snow in one day. With the snow was also freezing cold temperatures. The lowest temperature recorded for this year so far was minus 9 degrees fahrenheit. Being out in this temperature could cause frostbite in under 30 minutes.
On the bright side, our winter break was extended a whole week. During this time many students enjoyed the snow by going outside, or staying inside trying to stay warm. A student who went outside was Junior Archer Gann. Him and a couple friends went sledding down the CCC hill. “It was a great time, we slid down the long hills at the CCC and made a big ramp. Afterwards I felt like I broke something. “Elijah picked all of us up and we were out all day.”
On the other hand a student who wanted to stay as warm as possible was Junior Noah Owens. “I stayed inside the whole break under my warm blanket” I then asked about what he was able to do having to stay inside. “I played lots of video games, including Marvel Rivels and 2K. I was with a lot of my friends; Joe, Archer, Haden, Jack, Elijah and Trotter " “I enjoyed staying inside and not having to go to school.” A fun fact about Noah was, “In total I took very limited showers.”
Although there were two types of students during our break, either staying inside like Noah or going out into the cold like Archer, everyone enjoyed the extended break.
