It was a shock to the entire team when Brylinn, Raylee, Mia, and Cadance could not play in their match against Plattsburg. Most of them went home because of a sickness that was sweeping through the school. With the changing of the seasons, ragweed pollen is listed as a high allergen. Allergies around the Wellington area are at a high risk right now according to The Weather Channel. However, the symptoms that our players are feeling aren’t allergies. I talked to Cadance Rogge about how she was feeling. Her response was, "I had a runny nose, body aches all over, just overall being really fatigued and tired, my ears felt like they were bleeding, and a sore throat." I had been with her all day before she left, and she was not feeling well or acting normal. Overall, the team played better than expected considering four varsity were absent. They almost won the first set and lost the next two sets. There was a lot of communication and teamwork, considering the never-seen varsity setup. I have heard from multiple people from the stands that the team fought really hard and did the best they could. The virus took out players but could not destroy the WN Lady Tigers.
