Senior Corinna Utterback has been very excited preparing to go to college. She is heading to Mizzou to major in Journalism, minor in photojournalism, and will be taking classes through the Honors College. Scholarships are going to be fundamental for her success. One scholarship is the DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship sponsored by the Lafayette-Lexington Chapter. Talking to Jobie Shannon, she told me that the staff nominates one WN senior every year. For this scholarship, you can move on from our districts. “Corinna is the first student to move on from our district.” This is extremely impressive and took a lot of steps and work from Corinna Utterback. She told me that she had a written timed essay. She also had to fill out forms and turn in a resume. The next step in this process is going to lunch in Lexington in April and meeting with the chapter members. Lastly, Corinna will be going to Saint Louis for the state meeting to possibly receive another award. She has already won the Good Citizens award for our district. “I am extremely grateful to be recognized with such an esteemed award. It feels like all the work I’ve done over the years has paid off,” Corinna said. She also mentioned that she loves writing and was extremely grateful that they judged her on that. She has prepared for this for years and perfected her professional style in writing.
