For one student, completing a full sports season without injury has not been in the cards, but his luck could be turning around.
Unfortunately for Noah Owens, he's gotten unlucky for almost every season of his highschool career. He has made short and sweet comebacks for some sports but has always gotten injured while trying to push through. Noah's first injury started in September of his freshman year while playing football. He thankfully didn't need surgery and made an honest and fast recovery. Noah was able to run track his freshman year and had a smooth summer.
Going into Noah's sophomore year, he started football and sadly tore his ACL shortly after and had surgery. He was making great time in his recovery before tearing his ACL again at the end of his sophomore year and had surgery in the summer. Noah has not been able to participate in football his junior year but has just come back for his basketball season for his Junior year. “I was scared to come back and get hurt again. I also just felt unathletic after being out for so long.” Even though Noah didn't feel any physical pain while on the basketball court he had fear of getting hurt again and ending his athletic career.
He agreed that being back with his team is a blessing and curse because even though he loves to play, he didn't want to end up hurt again. “I don’t think I'll tear it again.” Noah is confident he is back for the rest of his high school career. Let's all hope and celebrate the debut of Noah's new and improved athletic career at Wellington-Napoleon.
