Last Tuesday, September 10, our JV Football team traveled down to Hardin to get revenge for our varsity. Last friday our varsity lost a nail biter 52-48 to the Aggies, after a hard fought game. The final score of the JV game was 30-14 Wellington.

Some stand out players from Tuesday were, Running Back and Linebacker Hunter Sassman, and Quarterback Wyatt Miller. Hunter ran the ball for 2 touchdowns, and on defense racked up 4 sacks. “I think the team played very well, and you could tell everyone left it all on the field.” Hunter has also got in on defense during the Varsity Games, and after such a great performance on JV, I expect him to help even more during Friday nights.

Quarterback Wyatt Miller led the team on offense while throwing 1 touchdown pass and running 1 in. It was Wyatt’s first highschool game playing quarterback, after playing the position all throughout middle school. He adjusted quickly from middle school, stating “after the first quarter, I started to get used to it.”

When Coach Hampton reflected on the teams performance he mentioned many good things about them playing together. “We executed on both sides of the ball really well, and played well together.” On offense he praised the offense line on blocking well for the running backs, and giving the Quarterback time to throw. “Our defense did a really nice job of pursuing to the ball and wrapping up.” Overall he felt like it was a great first game by all!

The JV team will play their next game next Monday, September 16, at home against Sweet Springs. We wish the JV good luck going forward, and hope to continue winning!
