Have you been hearing a lot about the NHS recently? Maybe a sibling or a classmate has been talking about writing an essay or preparing for an interview, or maybe, you have been writing and preparing. These past few weeks, the National Honor Society has been working to recruit new members.
Though both seniors and juniors have been working for a few weeks, NHS Advisor Mrs. Fahrmeier has been working for months. When asked about some of the requirements and steps on reaching out to students, Mrs. Fahrmeier remarked, “Each student needs to have a 3.25 GPA”. A teacher evaluation on leadership and character is done on each prospective member. If you pass these requirements and others with an 80%, you will receive a crisp white letter saying you are eligible to enter the process of becoming a National Honor Society member.
Now to the juicy part, who is trying to join the NHS this year and how are they feeling about the process. Senior Tucker Ryun shared his feelings about the interview, “I was a little bit nervous”. Junior Maci Zeysing is excited to “give back to the community and school”.
Though this year’s induction selection process is over, there is still a chance next year! If you are a freshman or sophomore wanting to join the NHS but are not sure what the requirements are, Co-Presidents Ashlynn Meyer Huffmaster and Levi Wallace can answer any questions you may have surrounding the NHS.
