Story By Joe Heater
There are a lot of different out of school clubs and sports to do here at Wellington-Napoleon. One of the less known opportunities is book club. Book club is ran by Mrs. Mead and will meet every Wednesday. “There are students who enjoy reading books outside of school, and this creates opportunities to discuss popular books,” said Mrs. Mead. They are planning on starting a series called Shatter Me which members voted on this year. There isn’t an official time the club will end, but should go for less than an hour.
One of the founders of the club is sophomore Baylee Frye. “I really wanted to create it because I felt like I could share interests in books with friends. I wanted to discuss everything I read and have fun,” she said when asked why she wanted to form the club. Baylee says this year she is most excited to read new books and eat snacks. She plans on having ice cream at the next meeting. When asked about last year she said, “Last year, book club was new to me, but putting the whole thing together made me feel creative. Unfortunately I missed our final meeting last year but I heard that they had some exciting activities celebrating the end of "One of Us Is Lying.” She really enjoys talking with friends at the meetings. She says they all have become closer and she can’t wait to keep growing relationships.
Book Club can be a place to make new friends and share common interests in reading. You can learn a lot while sharing about popular books. The first meeting was last Wednesday, and will meet every Wednesday after school.
